The six questions we hear most – answered the way we answer them on a call.
Book a ConsultationFrequently asked questions
Which faults can I check myself?
The safe ones: power + socket checks, error-code reading, cleaning filters + spray arms, load rebalancing, door seals + defrosting. Our DIY-safe checks page lists them all. Anything involving panels, tools or live power is off the list – that is engineer territory.
When must I call an engineer?
When the fault is inside the machine: burning smells, tripping electrics that persist, drum bearings, gas appliances, sealed refrigeration systems – or anything you would need to open the casing for. A triage consultation tells you honestly when it has reached that point + what to have repaired.
How does the consultation + pricing work?
You book a remote session (video or phone), we review your symptom + photos beforehand, + the session ends with a clear verdict + a written summary. Pricing is per session at a fixed price confirmed in writing before you commit – see the pricing page. We do not sell parts + take no commission.
Can you help me read a repair quote?
Yes – that is the Engineer brief. Send us the quote + we explain what failed + why, what the parts + labour should reasonably cover, + which questions to ask before you approve the work. We do it from your side of the table only: no parts sales, no repairer commissions.
What about gas appliances?
We keep it simple + safe: if you smell gas, turn the supply off at the meter, ventilate the room + call a Gas Safe registered engineer. We do not provide gas guidance beyond that advice – gas work is legally a registered-engineer job, + we will always direct you to one.
Do you repair appliances or sell parts?
No. We are a consultancy: remote fault analysis, usage + maintenance guidance, + decision support. No physical repairs, no parts sales, no engineer referrals for commission. Our advice has exactly one interest – yours.
